Aso-ebi Outfit of the Week

If nothing else, the model had some interesting posing. Although this has ruffles, the style of the dress isn't really MY style.

But what do you think? Is this an outfit for you?

Wedding Video: Olu and Lola

This is one of the best videos for a Nigerian wedding that I've ever seen! I'm sure you'll enjoy as well.

Look for Less: Maggie Sottero/Forever Yours

It's time for another Look for Less this month and this one is practically dead on.

I'm sure as many of you can see, I LOVE ruffles, and this dress will be no exception. The difference between these 2 dress are only a few hundred dollars but that may make all the difference. Enjoy!!!

Maggie Sottero Jenna = ~$1,200

Forever Yours 4111100 = ~$800

The One Thing I Did for the Traditional....

While I'm waiting on getting back photos from my traditional wedding, I thought I'd show you the one thing that I did in regards to the traditional wedding.

The one thing I did for the traditional wedding is the invitations. Amongst the madness of everything else, I wanted some semblance of clarity.

So, without further ado, KnaijaQueen's traditional wedding invitations...

*Sorry about having to block out personal information*

I have a graphic designer who is designing all of the wedding-related stationary including this invitation. I printed the first sheet on platinum vellum with the picture of my fiance and I printed on #80 ivory linen cardstock.

To hold the two pieces of the invitation together, I taped red ribbon to the back.

If you notice at the bottom, I indicated to be prompt on the invitation. I felt the need to put that there as I wasn't interested in a large amount of people being immensely late. More on that during the photo recap.

I actually ended putting together 120 invitations and gave out 115. One of my bridesmaids and my sister came one evening to help me so we could knock it out all at once. The invitations were put into ivory envelopes with wrap around mailing labels for the addresses. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of it before I sent it out.

In the big scheme of things, these are simple invitations but did the job I was looking for. The invitations for the white wedding are a little more design intensive and will show those in due time.

So...what do you think of these?

Aso-Ebi Outfit of the Week

Today's aso-ebi outfit of the week is a simple strapless dress.

I love the fact that you can take ankara, swiss lace etc., and still make a simple gown from it. It doesn't necessarilly have to have all the bells and whistles for it to look great. Enjoy!!!

Wedding Video - CNN: Inside Africa

I'm sure that many of you caught this little series that CNN did on Africa last year where it talked several different aspects of the cultures within Africa.

In case you didn't, one video that CNN did was on a Yoruba traditional engagement ceremony. I thought it was very well put together and pretty accurate.

As I'm still waiting on pictures for my own traditional wedding that I'll talk about soon, enjoy this video!

Wedding - Abi & Kokou

Who says a bride can't be comfortable on her wedding day? This bride decided to wear flats (gold ones at that!) and looks like she thoroughly enjoyed herself.

Aso-Ebi Outfit of the Week

I love seeing the one shoulder look on traditional clothing. And the ruffles don't hurt either....

Enjoy!!!

Is This My Dress?

I just realized I didn't do a post for "Is This My Dress?" last month. PLEASE forgive me for my tardiness.

The dress for today is the Cosmobella 7413. Cosmobella is a part of the Demetrios bridal line generally with very fitted silhouettes.

This dress was probably around the the 30th dress I had tried in one busy day of wedding dress shopping, but only the second in the store. As you can see, it's quite fitted and follows the strapless dress trend that continues to be popular.

I LOVED the fit, the lace appliques, the layers. EVERYTHING seemed perfect. I wasn't sold though, and neither was one of my bridesmaids who was with me that day.

I loved the color of it which was a deep ivory, almost champagne color, but my bridesmaid thought that it looked yellow.

However, I did smile from ear to ear while I was wearing the dress. So what do you think? Is this my dress?
