Look For Less: Lazaro/Allure
For this month's Look For Less, I was requested to try and find something similar in a lower price range.
I specifically remember looking at this dress when I was looking for my own wedding gown, especially since it comes in a soft pink, but alas, I never tried it on and I don't really know why to tell you the truth.
What I found isn't exact but it's pretty close. Just add some tulle and flowers in the back and it's practically there. What do you think?
Lazaro 3819 ~$5,500

Allure 8445 ~$1,000

If there is a Look For Less that you would be interested in seeing, contact me.

Aso-Ebi Outfit of the Week
Ahhh....the ever so popular one shoulder.....
I love the way this girl had her dress made as it actually covers her entire shoulder as opposed to just a strap.
What do you think?

Music Monday: Midnight Crew - Igwe
This song happened to come out as the same time as Dbanj's "Igwe", so sometimes people get confused. However, I love both songs and plan to play both at my wedding. Enjoy!!

Reception Shoes Are A Must...Part II
To follow up my last post about my DIY strass shoes, I'm providing a tutorial.
What you'll need:

Simply put, you glue the crystals to the shoe until you have covered the entire shoe (or whichever area you want to cover). I literally put glue on each and every crystal, however, some prefer to put glue on the shoe and put the crystals on the shoe that way.

After I finished one shoe, I sat on the project again...FOR MONTHS.....
I knew I had to finish so I got started again. For some reason, it took me a little longer this time and even my fiance was getting frustrated. I finally finished it though and I LOVE the final result!

The pictures do NO JUSTICE to just how sparkly they are.
This was a time consuming project so here are a few tips:
*Unless otherwise sourced, all pictures in this post are my personal pictures.*
What you'll need:
- Tweezers (some people like a use a toothpick, though)
- GemTac glue (some people like to use E6000)
- A pair of shoes
- At least 3500 Swarovski crystals (I used different size crystals to create more depth)
- Time

This was a time consuming project so here are a few tips:
- Decide how close you want the crystals to be next to each other ahead of time. I wear a size 10 and used about 3500 crystals to create the finished look. However, if you look closely, the crystals aren't on top of each other. I decided to do it this way to save time as it would have taken me double the time and amount of crystals. To get a better idea of different levels of proximity, here's a picture (the style I did is the 2nd picture):
- Be prepared to spend at least 30 hours of your time on this project.
- I bought Swarovski crystals which ended up costing more, but you can get crystals that cost less, however, they don't sparkle as much as the Swarovski.
- I decided to use GemTac glue, but there are many who prefer to use E6000. I chose not to use E6000 because it has fumes and can become toxic if inhaled. At least with GemTac, it just seems like regular Elmer's Glue (except with stronger adhesive).

Reception Shoes Are A Must... Part I
When I first got engaged, there were SOO many things swirling around in my head as to what I would be willing to do to make things happen the way that I wanted them to. Did I want to do everything myself or do I want to just buy everything necessary? After I looked at my budget, I decided that I was going to at least have to do some things on my own.
The first thing was coming across the beauty that is Christian Louboutin sparkle strass shoes.
Can you say GORGEOUS!!!
I just KNEW that I had to have shoes like this for when I change into my traditional clothing for the reception. However, with a price tag of $3000, it was a bit out of reach.
I then came across a forum called ThePurseForum (TPF). There were girls on the site that were actually taking their plain Christian Louboutin shoes and gluing swarovski crystals onto the shoes to create the same effect of the pair that costs $3000 for much less.
After reading over 200 pages of a 300 page thread (because of page length, it's been forced into a second thread), I knew I could do the same thing.
I found of a pair of purple satin pumps that I wanted to wear and decided to strass them myself. Unfortunately, I didn't take a before picture, but for now, I'll post the "just after before" picture and give a tutorial and finished product on my next post.

Stay tuned!!

What's In A Day?
When my fiance and I went looking for venues, we actually hadn't decided on a date. The only thing we knew is that we wanted a fall wedding. We simply thought that we'll find the venue that we love and we'll work around what dates were available.
Well, after we found the venue that we LOVE, we started looking at what dates would be available. As we started discussing with the event manager, we found out that the pricing between having our wedding on a Saturday vs Sunday would be a 30% difference.
Although we hadn't picked a particular date, I was SOO hoping that I would able to get one of the most popular wedding dates this year, 9.10.11 (September 10, 2011) which happened to be a Saturday. I just loved the consecutive numbers!
However, I had to look at what our budget for a venue was and determine if I was willing to pay a 30% premium JUST to have it on Saturdays. My fiance said it was my decision.
I decided to have it on a Sunday.
One thing that was very important to me was that we didn't start our marriage off in debt, to creditors, family, or anyone. I also talked to others who had their weddings on Sundays and basically stated that if they wanted to come out and support, they will, regardless of the day. That sealed it for me.
So there it is.......
Our wedding will be on a Sunday in October.
