Real Wedding Feature: Titi and Remi, Part I

It's been a long time since I've done a real wedding feature but don't worry, I have quite a few lined up for the next couple of months.

As promised, I'm posting the Real Wedding Feature of Titi and Remi, our couple who's engagment session I posted yesterday. Tomorrow will be their white wedding but for today, it'll be their traditional engagement.

I attended both events and thought they were just the most glorious events that truly showcased who Titi and Remi are as people.

Enjoy!!

1. How did the two of you meet?
We met through his brother-in-law who after the first couple of times he met me thought I’d be the perfect wife for Remi. After a couple of months, I gave in and agreed to be introduced to him. We spoke for the first time in August 2006, and spoke everyday for about 16 months when I traveled to Nigeria to see him for the first time. It felt like I had known him all my life, and I couldn’t wait to marry him.

2. Tell us about your proposal?
The proposal is not an elaborate story, but I guess I will still tell it the way it happened however boring it sounds. During my first visit to Ademi in Nigeria, I woke up one morning with him kneeling by my bedside. He started telling me how much I meant to him, and how it would make him the happiest man if I would marry him. I couldn’t believe what was happening, and I didn’t say Yes or No. After I came back to the States, during one of our conversations on the phone (after I had a sure confirmation from God), I told him I would be delighted to become his wife.

3. Who planned your wedding?
That’s a very good question because I planned the wedding myself with a little bit of help from my mom, who helped me handle the catering for both the traditional and wedding ceremony.

4. What was the design inspiration for your wedding?
I have to say that I got the design inspiration for my wedding from an encounter with God. Everything from the colors, to the church decoration and everything in between was from the vision during the encounter, and everything had to be as perfect as it was or I wasn’t pleased with it. Thank God who made everything beautiful at the end of the day!

5. Did you have a budget? Do you care to share what it was? Did you go over your budget or stay under budget?
We had a budget, and I can honestly say that we went a little over the budget. I did not exactly keep track of how much was spent because I don't know how much we spent on tradtiional attire for the engagement and the reception.

Stay tuned for part 2 of this feature tomorrow.
